Weapon/Equipment Name: Crossbow.
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.
Weapon/Equipment Description: It is modeled upon modern composite bows. Its ammo consists of five feathered darts in a magazine. These are fed one at a time into the main mechanism, which utilizes a high-tension wire to launch the dart. A scope fixed on top allows the user to zoom in on his or her target. Once fired, the wire resets to its original position automatically allowing a fairly high rate of fire. However, when a new magazine is inserted, the wire must be pulled back manually, resulting in a long reload time.
Once fired, the bolts don't have as much velocity as, say, a bullet, so they are effected by gravity more over long distances and follow a slight downward arc as they travel. Users firing over long distances must account for this drop by aiming slightly above the target.

Weapon/Equipment Name: Gluon Gun
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.
Weapon/Equipment Description: The Gluon Gun is a type of experimental weapon that fires a glowing blue/purple beam that spirals towards a target like a corkscrew or vortex. The gluon is the particle that mediates the strong nuclear force that holds atomic nuclei together.
The prototype gluon gun design consists of a hand-held beam emitter that is attached to a large backpack by a thick hose. The backpack contains a micro-fission reactor, an advanced nuclear device that was developed at Black Mesa and is capable of using inexpensive depleted uranium as fuel rather than an enriched isotope. The same technology was put to use in the experimental Tau Cannon that was developed during the same period. Since gluon guns affect the fundamental structure of matter conventional armour offers little defence, but gluon guns are not capable of penetrating walls or obliterating buildings, showing us that the one factor that matters is a target’s mass or density, as in a large or very dense object the disruptive effect is weakened as it tries to spreads throughout the entire object. Another disadvantage of the gluon gun is its very high rate of consumption of depleted uranium – if the weapon is fired carelessly it will deplete the micro-fission reactor’s stock of depleted uranium within seconds.

Weapon/Equipment Name: Sentry Turret
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.

Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.
Weapon/Equipment Description: Sentry Turrets are commonly used by the HECU to guard chokepoints and vital areas.
The turret consists of a powerful machine gun built onto a tripod. The gun itself rests on a turntable mechanism of sorts on the top of the tripod, which allows it to rotate and fire in any direction.
The turret relies upon an independent laser sensor to detect targets. Once a target has tripped the beam, the turret deploys its weapon with a high pitched whine, and fires upon any target in sight. Once activated, the sentry would remain alert for a time (it makes a steady beeping sound whilst scanning for targets) before sinking into a dormant but alert state. Despite appearing gawky and unstable, these turrets are in fact stronger than they appear, and are difficult to knock over.
Besides the standard, portable, tripod-mounted floor turrets, there are some other varieties. Ceiling mounted turrets of various size are occasionally seen in the Black Mesa Facility.
A regular sentry variant (that doesn't depend on sensors) also exists, but it is rare.

Snark Mines are hanged in mid-air at the center of a corridor near web-like structures completely barring the way, hanging from the ceiling with some sort of yellow energy thread. Two purple rays randomly come from the mine, acting like sensor lasers.
To proceed further, the enemy can either destroy the webs, which will often cause the mine to explode and release five Snarks (two couples, then a single one) or crouch under the mine and avoid activating it (breaking a nearby web will however trigger the mine regardless). The mines can also be directly destroyed when shot or tripped. When exploding, a Snark will destroy the nearby web.

The SPAS-12 is the most effective weapon at close to point-blank range. Its effectiveness decreases with distance as the buckshot pattern disperses wider at longer ranges. The SPAS-12 has an eight round capacity and two fire modes. The primary fire mode will shoot one shotgun shell and the secondary fire mode will shoot two shells in a rapid burst.
Using the SPAS-12 can be tricky at times – as well as having limited range, it can only be reloaded one shell at a time. It takes several seconds to fill the weapon with all eight shells.

Weapon/Equipment Name: Tau Cannon
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.
Weapon/Equipment Description: A prototype for the assault rifle of the future, the Tau Cannon is an experimental weapon developed by scientists at Black Mesa. Its advanced technology allows it to use depleted uranium as fuel. Furthermore, the user does not have to worry about reloading the gun – it taps directly into the ammo reserve. The depleted uranium ammunition is shared by the Gluon Gun.
The tau cannon is a type of experimental weapon that fires beams of Tau particles. The weapon has two different fire modes. The first shoots tau particles rapidly, visible as yellow beams in the air; each beam damages a target with its negative charge and its bullet-like kinetic energy. Though not particularly powerful per hit, these rapid discharges can quickly gun down unarmored targets. The alternate fire mode charges up the weapon to fire more powerful white-hot beams; these can shoot through multiple targets or penetrate walls, causing a devastating explosion-like blast of particles on the far side. Tau cannons are compact and light enough to count as small arms, despite the fact that a blast from a charged-up tau cannon can penetrate or destroy armored vehicles. Originally developed at the Black Mesa Research Facility.
The tau is the most massive member of the lepton family of elementary particles; like electrons, tau particles are negatively charged, but tau particles have more than three thousand times as much mass. This explains the tau cannon’s powerful penetrating power, as well as its significant recoil. Though the early tau cannon prototypes used normal household batteries as an initial power source for the particle accelerator, a micro-fission reactor generated the deadly particle beam. This advanced nuclear device, developed at Black Mesa, is capable of using inexpensive depleted uranium as fuel rather than an enriched isotope. (The same technology was put to use in the experimental gluon gun that was developed during the same period.) When the tau cannon alternate fire mode was used the reactor would be fed more depleted uranium fuel without being fired, and the energy would be stored in a set of spinning capacitors. Although these prototype capacitors could store a vast amount of energy they could not hold a charge for long, and if the tau cannon’s capacitors were fully charged-up the weapon would have to be fired within ten seconds to prevent a catastrophic discharge that could kill the user of the weapon.

=============================================
Weapon/Equipment Name: Displacer
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff, teleportation.
Weapon/Equipment Description: The Displacer is a type of extremely compact and portable teleportation machine that was developed at the Black Mesa Research Facility. The displacer could also be used as a weapon, the Displacer Cannon. A displacer has two different modes: the first generates a displacement field (or portal) ahead of the user, allowing the teleportation of a single object or being. The alternate mode generates a portal behind the emitters, teleporting the displacer and the device’s user.
The portals generated by displacers are somewhat unique compared to other teleportation technology, as they do not have to be maintained by a constant supply of displacement energy; instead the displacement field was given a large amount of energy in a concentrated burst, allowing the portal to remain open for some time before the portal’s energy was depleted. To generate this degree of energy within such a compact device requires a Xen crystal or some other imitation with exotic matter properties. The other key component is a nuclear mini-reactor fueled by depleted Uranium 235, also used in the tau cannon and gluon gun weapons that are developed at Black Mesa.
A moving displacer portal will travel in a straight line in defiance of gravity, teleporting the air and dust particles that it passes through, as they do not significantly deplete the displacement energy. This process will ionise the air and can result in a form lightning to arc between the portal and objects that it passes, a hazard that displacer operators must be conscious of. When the portal comes into contact with a significant amount of mass, it will lose enough energy to destabilise and collapse. In the brief moment before this occurs the matter in contact with the portal will be teleported, unless its mass exceeds the limits of the displacement field. This limit tends to be slightly greater than the mass of a human being; larger creatures, vehicles, dense objects or walls cannot be transported.
When the portal collapses it causes a displacement shockwave, a wave of extremely dangerous space-time distortions, anomalies and exotic particles that will damage the structure of matter. When a displacer is used as a tool to teleport objects or beings, care must be taken that there is no one near that could be harmed by the shockwave, or objects that could sustain damage. A shockwave is also left in the wake of the displacer’s self-teleport feature, and so safety precautions must still be taken.
The dangerous aspects of displacer technology also allow it to be used as a powerful weapon, and for this reason the device is sometimes known as the Displacer Cannon. The user can purposely fire a portal near to an enemy or into the midst of a group of enemies; firstly the arcs of lightning may cause some harm, and then when the portal collapses after hitting the ground or wall the shockwave is capable of eliminating several human-sized targets. Additionally the teleportation destination can be set to send anything it hits to an undesirable or dangerous location.

Weapon/Equipment Description: The Shock Roach is a living weapon. It is used primarily by Shock Troopers, but it can also be picked up and used by humans.
The Shock Roach has all the characteristics of a large insect, with six legs and a tri-segmented body. Unlike the Hive Hand, the bio-weapon employed by Alien Grunts, the Shock Roach can move, react and attack of its own accord. The Shock Roach forms a symbiosis with its user; it cannot survive for long on its own, and upon its users' death, it will attempt to form a new bond with viable nearby targets. This symbiotic tactic is confirmed when looking closely at a Shock Roach's underside: Six strong pincers, much like the legs of Earth insects, can attach tightly to any creature's forearm, never releasing until said creature is dead. It will violently attack anyone who is an enemy. Its use as a weapon stems from its ability to generate large amounts of electricity, which it can launch in short bursts from its single protuberant eye.
The Shock Roach is the primary weapon of Shock Troopers. Shock Roaches are similar to the Hive Hand in that they essentially have an infinite amount of "ammo"; they regenerate their electric charge after they have been fired, and they can be fired ten times in quick succession before they are temporarily exhausted.

Weapon/Equipment Name: M249 Squad Automatic Weapon
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.
Weapon/Equipment Description: The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, also known as SAW, is a powerful automatic weapon used by the HECU.
The M249 is essentially a powered-up SMG with the grenade launcher removed. However, it also has a lot of recoil added to it as well. In addition to decreasing accuracy the longer the user fires the gun, the M249's recoil knocks the user back a bit as long as the user fires.

Weapon/Equipment Name: Shock Roach
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.

Weapon/Equipment Name: Spore Launcher
Weapon/Equipment Strengths: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Weaknesses: See description.
Weapon/Equipment Abilities: Killing stuff.
Weapon/Equipment Description: The Spore Launcher is an improvised biological weapon. It consists of a large amphibious alien specimen which is fed clusters of Spore Fruit and then manipulated into forcefully expelling the spore clusters.
The Spore Launcher resembles a large lungfish or tadpole, with a smooth rounded skull crowned by spikes, gills along its side and trailing tentacles, one of which is used by the user as a "grip". The creature can store the mushroom-like spores which dot parts of Black Mesa and generally Nu Earth (these aren't natural to Nu Earth, and instead were brought there by the HL) in its digestive tract, and then launch them forcibly when required to. It has an affectionate nature, often making purring noises which some users reward with a friendly stroke along its back.
